Sunday, June 14, 10:30 a.m. - All Welcome

2nd Sunday after Pentecost

Sunday of All Saints of North America

This Sunday, we remember the saints who have shone forth in North America: missionaries and monastics, bishops and martyrs, mothers and fathers, teachers and quiet servants of Christ.

Some are known by name:

St. Herman of Alaska, St. Innocent, St. Tikhon, St. Raphael, St. Alexis, St. Olga of Kwethluk, and many others.

Many are known only to God.

Together, they remind us that holiness is not locked away in another century or another country. It can take root here: in northern winters, small parishes, family kitchens, hospital rooms, village paths, immigrant stories, hidden prayers, and ordinary acts of mercy.

In the Epistle, St. Paul reminds us that God sees truly, not by outward appearance, but by the hidden movements of the heart.

In the Gospel, Christ calls the first disciples from their nets:

“Follow Me.”

The saints of North America heard that same call.

Some crossed oceans.

Some served in remote villages.

Some bore suffering quietly.

Some built churches with tired hands and faithful hearts.

And now they pray for us.

 Epistle: Romans 2:10–16

God sees the heart and gives glory, honour, and peace to those who seek what is good.

 Gospel: Matthew 4:18–23

Christ calls ordinary people into the life and work of the Kingdom.

The feast hymn calls the saints of North America the “bountiful harvest” of Christ’s sowing of salvation in these lands. May their prayers help our own small lives become faithful soil.

All are welcome. Come and see.
