Sunday of the Paralytic

A quiet question that changes everything: Do you want to be made well?

 Readings

Epistle: Acts 9:32–42

Healing flows through the apostles—Saint Peter raises Tabitha and restores life where grief had settled. The Church becomes a place where death does not have the final word.

Gospel: John 5:1–15

By the Sheep’s Pool, a man waits… thirty-eight years of waiting. No one to carry him. No one to help him in.

And then Jesus Christ steps into his stillness—not with water, but with a word:

“Rise, take up your bed, and walk.”

Not the pool. Not the timing.

But the presence of Christ restores him.

 A Thread to Hold

“I have no one…”

How often does the heart whisper this?

And yet Christ draws near anyway—

not waiting for perfect conditions,

but meeting us exactly where we are.
