A lesson in answering the quiet invitation.
Saint Andrew hears the Forerunner point toward Christ—“Behold the Lamb of God.”
He responds not with certainty, but with movement. A step. A turning. A following.
And in that simple obedience, the Church receives her first-called Apostle.
Readings
Epistle — 1 Corinthians 4:9–16
Saint Paul speaks of the apostolic life: humble, steadfast, and marked by spiritual fatherhood—an echo of Andrew’s own courage and compassion.
Gospel — John 1:35–51
John the Baptist reveals Christ; Andrew follows; then he runs to his brother Peter with the radiant words, “We have found the Messiah.”
The chain of salvation begins with one heart awakening and one voice sharing the news.
Today we remember
Andrew, the gentle herald who first said “yes”
—and then went out to bring others to the Light.
Crucified on the X-shaped cross, he gives us the witness of a life stretched wide in love.
All are welcome. Come and see.
