Sunday Reader’s Matins & Typica
October 11 | Sunday of the Fathers of the Seventh Ecumenical Council
A lesson in tending the heart—so God’s word can take root and bear fruit.
In this Sunday’s Gospel, Christ shares the parable of the sower. The seed is God’s word; the soil is our heart. He invites us to receive His word, hold it close, and bear fruit with patience.
In the Epistle, St. Paul calls us to put our faith into practice through good works, meeting the needs of others and turning away from fruitless quarrels.
As we remember the Fathers of the Seventh Ecumenical Council, let us nurture the faith we have received—with prayer, patience, and love.
Epistle: Titus 3:8–15
Gospel: Luke 8:5–15
